International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) was founded in 1966 by Major General Choi Hong Hi six years before his exile from South Korea in 1972 and seven years before the WTF. His first visit of good will to North Korea was in 1980, when he introduced Taekwon-Do there. It is one the two major international Taekwon-Do organisations, the other being the public Olympic International Federation called World Taekwondo Federation or WTF. The WTF though only operates competitions and has nothing to do with curriculum. For that, the WTF only recognizes the Kukkiwon (World Taekwondo Headquarters). General Choi was the primary figure in the development of Taekwon-Do during the 20th century and headed meetings with the senior Taekwon-Do masters to unify a large number of the Korean martial arts schools under the name Taekwon-Do. He is also responsible for providing Taekwon-Do with its name which was agreed upon on April 11th, 1955. He is acknowledged by practitioners of ITF Taekwon-Do as the founder and father of Taekwon-Do.

It's heavy and you may just be the type that likes the Spyderco PPT. At 5.2 oz it's a bit much for my own EDC system. But if you and your system can hack it, the PPT has a lot to offer. The modified Wharncliffe S30V blade arrives razor sharp, has some belly, and an unsharpened swedge running down the topside. The steel choice is excellent and accounts for some of the elevated cost of the PPT. Ergos are improved with outstanding jimping, a Fred Perrin commodity in his blades. The sculpted G10 handle scales are sick looking, and while they feature sharp shoulders, they contribute greatly to the knife's overall awesome looks. Casual looks may lead one to suspect the PPT is a liner lock. Nope. Instead it is a heavy duty frame locker and as such should offer good strength for heavy duty cutting. The clip carries very deep, it's only single position, and it accomadates thick fabric. I wonder about its long term durability however since it's locked in with just one screw and has some wiggle. Also included is the cool black and tan lanyard with sets the knife off nicely and helps with extraction. Speed and lockup are superb as are blade centering and in-handle retention. Value is moderate and several other similar options are shown and discuss. The Perrin PPT then is a hard use, functional, and cool knife for those guys that love the feel of steel, darn the weight!///////////////////////////////// Nutnfancy Likability Scale: 6 out of 10

You may not have heard of Aaron Cook yet, but within a year the 20-year-old plans to be a household name as he attempts to turn his 5th at the 2008 Olympics into Taekwondo gold in London. But before then, the European champion is keen to show Britain a bit more about this ancient Korean martial art and why he decided to choose the sport over more traditional pursuits such as football. He's also an advocate for the massive fitness benefits of Taekwondo. In the following video Aaron showcases some basic Taekwondo exercises to help get you started. He'll also give details of the launch of the Mars Refuel Drink Fund which will see £5000 donated to sporting individuals, teams and clubs every month until the end of September 2011. The crucial elements of the side kick motion are founded in the chambering of the knee, then the extension of the knee. It is important to maintain a straight line with the heel of the foot from the floor to the target. In doing so, the maximum force of the kick will be applied. Training for the side kick should begin with hip flexibility exercises.

Basic ab & core exercises for beginner and veteran martial artists. There are many more than the ones I demonstrate here. These are just a few of my favorites. Try do to at least 3 or more sets of any one or more exercises demonstrated above. Each set should consist of as many repetitions as you can do until you can't do any more. Rest for about 30 seconds to 2 minutes after you complete a set, and then continue on to the next set. If you did enough, your abs should be sore the day after your training session. It will take anywhere from 2-6 days for your abs to recover after an intense ab workout session. When your ab muscles have recovered and rebuilt, and your soreness is gone, begin another intense ab training session (but make sure to ingest enough protein and get enough sleep during the in-between-session recovery periods). You should only need to train your abs about once or twice a week. However, if you did an ab training session, and your abs aren't sore the next day or the day after that, it probably means you didn't do enough sets or reps in your recent training session. Increase your sets or the amount of reps in your sets, then try again. And/or you can change the type/s of exercises you are doing during your training session. Remember, if you are going for aesthetics (ripped looking abs) instead of just strong abs, then ab training alone won't do the trick. Even if you have strong abs, they aren't going to show through well if they are covered with belly fat ...

Click here for more detailed martial arts tutorials by Kwonkicker: www.youtube.com FAQs: Q: Where can I buy one of those kicking dummies? A: You can buy a Body Opponent Bag (BOB) by going here: www.centurymartialarts.com Q: What is in the base of the BOB/Bag? A: It is filled with around 270lbs of all-purpose sand. Q: What stretches are best for this kick? A: This kick requires moderate front splits flexibility. You do not have to have a full front split to execute this kick effectively, but the more front split flexibility you have, the easier it is to perform this kick. Q: Is rechambering important with this kick? A: Rechambering is not nearly as important as the chamber to. When fighters focus too much on rechambering, they end up pulling their strikes before they delivered their full amount of force. If you focus on the important parts: the chamber to and the follow through, you will have powerful kicks. You won't have "flicky" strikes like those who focus on rechambering because it's "prettier", or because they claim it adds power, which it doesn't. It helps prevent leg catches in certain circumstances. That's it. Q: What part of the foot do I hit with? A: You strike with the bottom or outer knife edge of the heel. Your toes will often angle out off to the side of your target and may hit during or ...

Taekwondo is Korea's most famous martial art. It has been selected as an Olympic sport and has a massive international following. Some 70 million people practice the sport in 170 countries around the world. Taekwondo is called the martial art of the gentleman. Before the practitioner attacks, he must be able to calm the opponent with his words or expressions. And if he cannot do that, the practitioner must stop the attacks of the opponent and persuade him to give up. The taekwondo uniform, belt and patterns all contain the philosophy of taekwondo. That's why foreigners who practice taekwondo think of it as a difficult martial art that is not only physical, but one that must also be mastered spiritually. Recently, taekwondo has been analyzed scientifically. A man standing straight is said to have a 180-degree angle from the ground, half that is 90 degrees and half of that is 45 degrees. This is the scientific principle behind taekwondo

This is the 2011 version of the "Taekwondo in the K-1, Muay Thai & Kickboxing Ring" highlight. This is a highlight of Taekwondo kicking techniques being used by fighters in the K-1, Muay Thai & Kickboxing rings. This video is NOT about style superiority. It was simply made to show that both formal and sport TKD techniques are indeed effective weapons for the ring, whether it's for low-level or high-level professional competition. Also, this video is not saying that other martial arts styles don't have similar techniques (there are many styles that do). However, the ones demonstrated in this video are all Taekwondo techniques being performed by experienced Taekwondo stylists. Some of the fighters featured: Keiji Ozaki (Japan) - TKD Champ (JTA) Serkan Yilmaz (Turkey) - TKD Champ (WTF/ITF) Steve Vick (Australia) - TKD Champ (WTF) Hassan Kassrioui (Morocco) - TKD Champ (WTF/ITF) Lucio Aurelio (Brazil) - TKD Champ (WTF) Park Yong Soo (S.Korea) - TKD Champ (WTF) Cyrus Washington (USA) - TKD Champ (WTF) Micah Brock (USA) - TKD Champ (WTF) Lukasz Jurkowski (Poland) - TKD Champ (ITF) & Others Music: "Guile's Theme - Metal Version" "People Who Died" "Golden Axe Theme - Metal Version"
